Vote sought on Graton Rancheria casino

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

Voters in Sonoma County, California, could head to the polls in 2008 for an advisory referendum on the proposed Graton Rancheria casino.

The tribe wants to build a $450 million resort in Rohnert Park. The project is still in the environmental review phase but opponents hope to kill the plan.

Mike Healy, a former Petaluma City Council member, is drafting the referendum. He hopes the federal and state governments pay attention the outcome in deciding whether to approve the casino.
