City opposes Mississippi Choctaw casino

Thursday, October 4, 2007

The board of aldermen in Ocean Springs reaffirmed its opposition to the off-reservation casino sought by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

The tribe wants to build a $375 million casino on 100 acres in Ocean Springs. The site is more than 200 miles from the reservation.

The board adopted a resolution against gaming in March but voted to reaffirm since the tribe elected a new leader who supports the off-reservation casino.
