The Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine kicked off its "Yes on Question 1" campaign on Wednesday to gain voter support for a racino.
The tribe wants to build a racetrack with slot machines in Washington County. Passamaquoddy leaders said revenues will fund tribal government programs and services. "Profits from Indian gaming can make a profound difference in the tribe’s ability to care for itself and its future," Pleasant Point Tribal Chief Richard Phillips-Doyle, the Associated Press reported.
