The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts will close on a land deal in the town of Middleboro, Chairman Glenn Marshall said.
But Marshall cautioned that no final decisions on locating a casino at the site have been made.
The tribe purchased 125 acres for $1.76 million and holds options on 200 adjacent acres.
The tribe is considering other locations for a casino now that it has won federal recognition.
Marshall said a decision could be announced in the next 60 to 90 days.
