Gaming will be legalized in Massachusetts, state auditor Joseph DeNucci said.
DeNucci told The Boston Herald that Class III gaming was "inevitable." He said the effort will start with slot machines at racetracks and move to a full-scale casino. That would be good news for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, whose leaders are scouting for casino sites. The tribe can open a Class II facility but wants to negotiate a Class III compact with the state. The Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe is also interested in gaming but can't open a casino on its reservation due to language in its land claims settlement act. Get the Story:
