The mayor of New Bedford, Massachusetts, said the city wants to host the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe's casino.
Mayor Scott Lang met with Chairman Glenn Marshall and other tribal representatives on Monday to discuss the potential for gaming in the city. Lang said the city would "accommodate" the tribe.
The tribe likes New Bedford, Marshall said. The tribe also has eyes on land in the town of Middleboro.
The tribe's federal recognition becomes final this week.
