The city council in La Center, Washington, is expected to approve a resolution against the Cowlitz Tribe's proposed casino.
The city will vote on the resolution May 23. It comes after Vancouver passed a resolution against the casino, which is being opposed by a group called Citizens for a Healthy Clark County, whose funding largely comes from the Confederated Grand Ronde Tribes of Oregon. The tribe is trying to establish an initial reservation and build a $510 million casino along a major interstate. La Center is the nearest community.
