California Democrats who are sponsoring gaming compact bills have received an influx of tribal campaign contributions, the Associated Press reports.
During last year's election, the tribes with new compacts donated $540,000 to help two Democrats. The lawmakers are now sponsoring bills to ratify the agreements. The tribes with new compacts also gave more than $900,000 to support a top Democratic lawmaker who is supporting the agreements. The compacts would allow the tribes to offer more slot machines and expand their operations in exchange for a share of the revenues. Get the Story:
