Members of the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa go to the polls on Thursday to decide whether to legalize alcohol at the casino.
Opinion is divided on the proposal. Older tribal members are mainly opposed, citing the damaging effects of alcohol.
Younger tribal members, however, say the sale of liquor will made the casino competitive. Of the 19 casinos in the casino, the Meskwaki facility is the only dry one.
"I think it will probably pass," Shalane Ironshield, 20, told The Des Moines Register. "Everyone is concerned about the competition."
