Tuesday, April 3, 2007

The Torres-Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians of California opened the Red Earth Casino on Monday.

The 10,000-square-foot casino features six table games and 349 slot machines. The tribe has plans to add 1,650 more slots and a racetrack.

The $10 million facility is the tribe's first foray into gaming. Under a Congressional settlement, the tribe received land near a major interstate where a second casino will be located.
