The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe has sued South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds (R) over the failure to negotiate a new gaming compact.
The tribe, along with others, wants a new deal to increase the number of slot machines at its casino. But the lawsuit says Rounds has refused to negotiate in good faith. Under the current compact, tribes are limited to 250 slot machines. At the same time, the number of slot machines and video lottery terminals at non-Indian gaming facilities has grown by thousands.
