California tribes meet for gaming conference

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association is holding its 12th annual Western Indian Gaming Conference this week.

The conference takes place in Temecula, on the Pechanga Reservation. Tribal leaders will discuss gaming, politics and other issues today and tomorrow.

Anthony Miranda, the chairman of CNIGA, delivers the State of the Tribal Nations this morning. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is also scheduled to speak.

The conference is followed by a CNIGA members meeting on Friday. The organization represents over 60 tribes with and without gaming compacts.
