A bizarre shooting occurred in the parking lot of the casino owned by the Puyallup Tribe.

The incident took place in the early morning hours on April 2, according to news reports. Two men were injured after apparently opening fire on each other outside of the Emerald Queen Casino and Hotel.

Neither man had been inside the facility prior to the shooting, The Tacoma News-Tribune reported. A spokesperson said the men instead pulled into the casino lot after seeing each other on a highway.

The tribe previously investigated a fatal shooting at the casino in March 2015. Jeremy Schlenker, a citizen of the Crow Tribe, was sentenced to 26 years for murdering Brandon Williams, The News-Tribune reported last September. The men did not know each other prior to the shooting.
