South Florida's first Class III racino is on its way.
The Isle of Capri racino at Pompano Park installed 1,500 slot machines after voters in Broward County legalized the games. The racino is already talking about building a bigger facility in partnership with the Florida Marlins.
The Seminole Tribe and the Miccosukee Tribe want to offer Class III games. The tribes asked Gov. Jeb Bush (R) to negotiate a compact but the talks did not succeed.
The tribes currently offer electronic Class II machines, whose odds favor the house. Class III machines favor the player.
