Arizona tribes report $1.79B in gaming revenue

Arizona's 23 tribal casinos brought in a record $1.79 billion in revenues, The Arizona Daily Star reports.

The figure is up 16 percent from last year's total of $1.54 billion. And it's up from $1.3 billion in 2004 even though no new casinos have been built since 2002.

The market is expected to expand due to Arizona's growing population. Some tribes are opening new casinos and the Navajo Nation is getting into the game for the first time.
