The Cherokee Nation is opening its newest casino, in Sallisaw, today.
The 22,000-square-foot Cherokee Casino Sallisaw features 220 electronic games, nine poker and blackjack tables. It employs 150 people.
The tribe has rapidly expanded its gaming enterprise in the past few years. Casino employees went from 500 in 2004 to about 2,800 today.
