MONDAY, MARCH 25, 2002 Roger Jourdain, the outspoken former chairman of the Red Lake Band of Ojibwe, died at a Minnesota hospital on Thursday. He was 89. Jourdain is widely recognized as one of the staunchest defenders of tribal sovereignty. He led his tribe for 31 years after modernizing the tribe's structure of government. Services will be held Wednesday on the reservation. Get the Story:
