Whale bones delayed en route to England

FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 2002 A pair of whale jawbones donated by an Alaska Native hunter are being held back from their journey to England. The bones were set to leave yesterday from Alaska but they are too dirty to make it. A fungus or some type of algae have covered the bones and will have to be cleaned first, causing a month-long delay, the Anchorage Daily News reports. The jawbones came from hunter Don Nungasak. They are destined for Whidby, England, which is a whaling community. Get the Story:
