FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2002

Joe Losik, a member of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, was one of five hoop dancers who performed at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics last week in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Losik, 27, got on the Olympic schedule by accident, he said. His friends were trying out for the show and then he was asked to perform his hoop dance.

The rest, they say, is history.
