Norton releases status report

Secretary of Interior Gale Norton has submitted her latest status update on trust reform.

As required by court order, Norton personally signed the 9th report. The document covers the period January 1 through May 1.

The report covers a longer period because U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth allowed the department to submit it behind schedule.

Norton discloses that she has asked Deputy Secretary J. Steven Griles to review the performance of Special Trustee Tom Slonaker and his office. According to her section of the report, Slonaker is refusing to submit documents to federal court.
