The Bush administration is seeking to reform the federal regulations process and wants public comment.

A draft report by the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, which is part of the Office of Management and Budget, discusses the administration's major actions affecting the rule-making process. The first step was to halt all regulations not yet published in the Federal Register.

The review has resulted in the withdrawal of the land-into-trust regulations finalized by the Clinton administration, According to the draft report, this was just one of 700 of rules submitted for reconsideration.

At the Department of Interior, 48 rules have been reviewed. Of the amount, 34 went forward without modification, 11 were submitted with some changes and three were withdrawn altogether.

According to the report, there are still some delayed Interior regulations.

Comments on the draft are being taken for 60 days.
