An inquiry is being conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency and District of Columbia police over Thursday's discovery of equipment used to rid the Hart Senate Office Building of anthrax.

The building was set to open today at noon but was stopped after bag with protective gear and gloves was found in the ceiling above the hallway outside the offices of Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.). Daschle had received anthrax tainted letters, which closed the building in October.

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee, whose office is in the building, has been closed since the shutdown. The offices of committee chairman Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) are closed as well.
