TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2002

The Arizona Senate on Monday approved a bill to implement gaming compacts Gov. Jane Hull signed with the state's tribes.

The vote came after weeks of procedural wrangling in the chamber. The measure goes onto the House for approval.

The compact requires tribes to share revenues with the state for the first time since gaming was initiated. The Colorado River Tribes didn't agree and are pushing a ballot initiative to support gaming.
