Tribes will be helping decide where the Native American Bank will open additional branches.

Some tribal investors don't need a branch on their reservation. But the Navajo Nation, which put $1 million into the operation, might want one for rural residents, said a tribal official.

The bank was created last fall by a takeover of the Blackfeet National Bank on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. Twelve tribes and Alaska Native corporations are investors.
