The prospects of a Miami Nation casino in Indiana have people stirring about the past, the present and the future.

Gary Mayor Scott King announced he was moving into formal talks with the Oklahoma tribe. He took some people by surprise.

But not everyone is as shocked. The tribe's interest in a casino outside Oklahoma, where Class III gaming is not allowed, is well known although tribal officials say they are never the first to bring it up.

King says the casino would need local and regional support. The tribe would still have to jump through a number of hoops to get land in trust in the state.
