Mescalero Apache Nation President Sara Misquez is considering renovating the New Mexico tribe's casino and inn, reports The Albuquerque Journal.

Discussions are preliminary, the tribe points out. Misquez in a letter to tribal members said the Inn of the Mountain Gods and the casino would be torn down for a larger resort.

The tribe has refused to sign a new casino compact with the state and is challenging payments required under a 1997 agreement.
