TUESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2002

Two Minnesota tribes took their fight to keep their casino audits private to a state court on Monday.

As separate sovereigns "outside" the jurisdiction of the state, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and the Prairie Island Dakota argue the reports should not be disclosed. The tribes cited a state law to back up their claim.

The state attorney general and the media want the state Department of Public Safety to release the audits.
