FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 2002

The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans of Wisconsin gained approval in two places for its $600 million casino in the Catskills region of New York.

The tribe's council and a New York county legislator gave approval to the document for the facility. Partner Trading Cove Associates, the company which bankrolled the Mohegan Tribe, proposes to build the casino on 350 acres of land.

Under the deal, Sullivan County gets $105 million over seven years. The tribe will pay the county $3.75 million every three months.
