The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is still reviewing a fisheries plan proposed by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut.

The tribe was asked to submit detailed answers to questions raised by the Corps and the state's environmental department. The state is considering whether the fishery would violate a coastal zone management plan.

After that determination is made, the Corps would then issue a decision on the tribe's proposal. A decision is at least a month away, an official told The New London Day.

The tribe's plan, which would involve using lobster and other cages, has raised outcry from local fisherman and boaters. A public hearing was held and about 1,000 comments were sent to the Corps, which said some of the responses had racist overtones.
