The Tigua Tribe of Texas is working to try and make expected layoffs of hundreds of employees less harsh by offering severance packages and post-employment aid.

About 800 are employed at the tribe's casino, which has been ordered to shut down by a federal appeals court. The exact date of closure is not known but it could be before February 7.

The tribe wants to appeal the case to the Supreme Court.
