FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2002

A Connecticut man and his family have sued a local planning commission for approving a golf course and resort proposed by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, saying parcels of the land belong to them.

David McCord and his sisters are disputing between 55 and 70 acres, according to a lawyer representing a development group affiliated with the tribe. Harry Heller of the Daylar Group says the tribe has clear claim to the land.

The North Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission last month approved the golf course and resort proposed for the Lake of Isles site. The town's Inland Wetlands Commission attached some conditions, which the tribe and Daylar are challenging in a lawsuit of their own.
