Secrecy surrounds Oneida discussions

MONDAY, JANUARY 28, 2002

The Oneida Nation, the state of New York and two New York counties have begun talking again about the tribe's long-running land claim.

But they aren't talking about what they are talking about. They aren't talking about what they're not talking about either.

Maybe it's a ploy to prevent the type of stalemate that surrounded the failure of prior talks to move forward. Either way, The Syracuse Post-Standard was hardly able to get any information out of the parties, other than the fact that they met somewhere in a building in Syracuse.
