Cancer treatment for Native women lacking

MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2002

Native women have the lowest cancer survival rate in the United States, according to federal statistics.

Linda Burhansstipanov, the executive director and president for the Native American Cancer Research Corporation, attributed the low rate to a number of factors. Underfunded programs, lack of insurance and lack of access to proper health care are to blame, she said.
