Indian social workers laid off

The state of Washington has laid off the only two Indian social workers at its Seattle office.

The state Department of Social and Health Services says budget cuts forced the release of Peter Joe and Rosemary Martinez. The pair have helped Native Americans, some of them homeless, get the housing, substance abuse treatment and help they need.
