Terrorism issues will be part of the decision-making process on a proposed national nuclear waste repository, Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham said on Monday.

Abraham was in Nevada touring the Yucca Mountain site, the only location under consideration to store highly radioactive waste. He met with Gov. Kenny Guinn to discuss the state's objections to the project.

Nevada Sens. Harry Reid (D) and John Ensign (R) held a news conference yesterday with local officials to reiterate their opposition.

Regarding terrorism, White House Office of Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge was supposed to visit the site this week but has decided to reschedule.
