The Alaska Forum on the Environment held a panel focusing on Bering Sea issues in Anchorage on Tuesday.

Speakers said the sea environment is in danger due to institutional neglect. Larry Merculieff, coordinator of the Bering Sea Council of Elders, urged scientists to take a better look at the ecosystem to ensure the subsistence needs of villages are met.

The forum continues all week.
