Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles on Thursday signed a bill to give an Arctic drilling lobbying group $1 million and the Inupiat village of Kaktovik $100,000.

The money will be used by Arctic Power and the village to promote drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. According to the Associated Press, the state has given Arctic Power more than $9 million over the years.
