The Bureau of Land Management is proposing to allow a drilling company to explore for oil in a national monument in Colorado.

The BLM issued an environmental assessment to allow trucks in the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. An official has issued a finding of no significant impact.

The monument was created by former President Bill Clinton. Bordering Ute Mountain Ute lands, it contains one of the richest troves of Native artifacts.
