FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2001 Say hello to TribalCourts.com, the latest online foray into the tribal justice system. VersusLaw, a national online provider of legal documents, has launched the site, calling it the "world's largest collection of Native American opinions available in electronic format." Users can find decisions from tribal courts throughout the nation, including the Hopi Tribal Court, the Navajo Nation Supreme Court and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Court -- which the Bureau of Indian Affairs says doesn't have authority. Other sites provided much of the same information. The Tribal Court Clearinghouse, at www.tribal-institute.org, is perhaps the oldest. VersusLaw and its partner in the venture, the National American Indian Court Judges Association, hope to have every tribal court in their database. It will be free of charge to tribal court administrators, they say. Relevant Links:
