FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2002 In an editorial today, The New London Day says it's "had enough" and it's time for the state of Connecticut to change the way money from two tribal casinos is distributed. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe contribute 25 percent of their slot machine revenues to the state. The state then doles out the money, using a complex formula, to communities. But this is unfair to the towns located nearest the casinos, the paper writes. They say the Legislature needs to fix the formula so that the host communities "would not have to rattle the tin cup every year." Five towns are set to get $425,000 this upcoming fiscal year under a proposal being advanced by lawmakers. Get the Story:
