Editorial: Support tribal-state casino

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2002 In an editorial, The Minneapolis Star Tribune says an urban casino would help two Minnesota tribes who haven't seen the same benefits from gaming as other tribes in the state. A state lawmaker wants to open a casino in the Minneapolis metro area and share operating costs and revenues with the Red Lake and White Earth Ojibwe bands. With the support of a leading state lawmaker, the paper says the proposal should be given serious thought. Other tribes have opposed the urban casino, fearing it would take from their profits.
