Opinion: Having it both ways

"I've heard city folks complain that "these Natives" want to have things "both ways" and that this is just not fair or possible.

"They want to claim a subsistence lifestyle, have priority hunting and fishing rights and good-paying jobs, modern medical services, quality education. Well, you can't have it both ways."

Or: "They say they're subsistence hunting but they use store-bought clothing, shotguns and rifles, snowmachines and four-wheelers. If they want to live a real subsistence lifestyle, they should have to use homemade clothing, tools and weapons. You can't have it both ways."

Or: "These people want to live in town some of the time and return to their village the rest of the time. They've got to make up their minds. You can't have it both ways."
