In an editorial today, The Billings Gazette says the Montana State Legislature needs to make suicide a top priority next year, given high rates of suicide among Montanans, but particularly Native youth.

The paper says the community on the Fort Belknap Reservation is helping address suicide problems. Tribal members have formed a suicide prevention group to help troubled youth, the paper says.

The paper's editorial comes after it published a series written by Native journalist Jodi Rave. She pointed out the alarmingly high rates of suicide among Native youth.
