TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2001 In a series, The Washington Post follows a cultural exchange between Mayan teens and Washington, D.C., teens in a project known as Hoops Sagrado, or Sacred Hoops. The program brought American teens to the village of Xecam in Guatemala. Some of them, however, encountered problems in and out of the program. Nine Mayana girls received scholarships to attend school in Guatemala as part of the program. Get the Story:
