WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2001

Tony Gass: "It's about time someone took a bold and courageous step in eradicating the 'tradition' of reducing Native Americans to nothing but school mascots and the model for team logos."

Ernest Graves: "It is strange that Native Americans object to giving athletic teams names such as 'Warriors' identified with American Indian culture."

Peter Dunner: "Instead of Poolesville High School Indians, let us try to substitute 'Jews' or 'Asians' or 'Muslims' for 'Indians' to better feel why it is time to change these names around the country."
