SEPTEMBER 18, 2000 Presidential candidates Al Gore and George W. Bush are neck and neck in a poll of New Mexico voters conducted by The Albuquerque Journal. Forty-three percent of 553 registered voters likely to vote said they would vote for Bush if the election were held today. Forty-two percent would vote for Gore. An estimated 9.5 percent of the state's population is Native American. Although the Journal's published results noted Hispanic voting preference, the paper did not report Native voting preference, or if it was considered. Get the Story:
