SEPTEMBER 15, 2000 Removed from their positions from the Kickapoo Tribal Council, Steve Cadue amd Thelma Simon plan to hold a protest against alleged wrongdoing at their tribe's Kansas casino during a conference in Lawrence today. They will be joined by organizer James Cisneros, who was also ousted from tribal government. The "American Indian Leaders: Red Power and Tribal Politics" conference is being held at Kansas University. Many tribal leaders plan to attend the event, including Dennis Banks and Clyde Bellecourt, founders of the American Indian Movement. Get the Story:
