Cherokee Nation to keep prayer

The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma plans to keep holding public prayer at all its athletic events, citing sovereignty over schools on tribal land.

The Supreme Court in June struck down prayer in public school athletic events. The schools within the Cherokee Nation jurisdiction receive federal funding.
