State to hold tribal forum
JULY 28, 2000

The State of Connecticut will hold a public forum on September 14 to discuss issues relating to federal recognition, land claims, and gaming.

The meeting was announced by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and Senator George Jepsen and will include officials from the towns of Ledyard, North Stonington, and Preston. The three towns have held their own forum to discuss the Eastern Pequot and the Paucatuck Pequot tribes.

Their forum turned into a debate on prejudice instead of Indian policy.
