Second tolerance meeting held in Alaska

FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2001 The Alaska Commission on Tolerance held its second public meeting in Juneau yesterday, drawing Alaska Natives and others who told of continued discrimination and prejudice in all walks of life. Governor Tony Knowles (D) created the commission in response to the paint-ball attacks of three white males on Alaska Natives. One man has since pleade guilty to lesser charges of misdemeanor assault. When he is sentenced, he will be allowed to dispute that he made racism statements which were caught on videotape the males taped of their attacks. The two others are juveniles and authorities are not releasing their status. Get the Story:
